Job title: Solar PV Design Engineer Job Summary: As a Solar PV Design Engineer, you will be responsible for the design and engineering of solar photovoltaic systems. Your primary goal is to create detailed and optimized plans for solar installations, considering various factors to maximize energy production and system efficiency. Key Responsibilities:

• System Design: Design solar PV systems, including solar panel layouts, electrical wiring diagrams, and component specifications, using software tools like AutoCAD, PVsyst, or equivalent.
• Site Assessment: Conduct on-site assessments to determine factors such as location, shading, roof structure, and electrical infrastructure that may affect system design.
• Energy Production Estimation: Calculate and predict energy generation based on system design, location, weather data, and shading analysis.
• Component Selection: Choose appropriate solar panels, inverters, mounting systems, and other components based on project requirements, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness.
• Compliance: Ensure that designs adhere to local building codes, electrical regulations, and safety standards.
• Budget Management: Assist in budgeting and cost estimation for solar projects, considering material and labor costs.
• Technical Documentation: Create detailed design and engineering documents, including drawings, specifications, and technical reports, for use in permitting and installation.
• Quality Control: Implement quality control procedures to verify that installations match design specifications and meet quality standards.
• Collaboration: Work closely with project managers, construction teams, and other stakeholders to ensure the successful implementation of projects.
• Stay Informed: Stay updated with industry trends, technological advancements, and best practices in solar PV design and engineering.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, renewable energy, or a related field.
• 3-5 experience in solar design/installation.
• Proficiency in solar design software tools, such as AutoCAD, PVsyst, Helioscope, or similar.
• Knowledge of local and national electrical and building codes related to solar PV systems.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Effective communication and teamwork abilities.
• Attention to detail and a commitment to safety.
• Previous experience in solar PV system design or related fields is preferred.

Work Environment: Solar PV Design Engineers may work in an office setting, but field visits to project sites are common. They may work for solar installation companies, engineering firms, or consult as independent engineers.
